Welcome to Wimereux...!
It is a collection of pictures of
our practical exercise to Wimereux. All these photos are selected
from collection of Etwin, Johan, Dioli, and my camera.
Wimereux is just across the
border of Belgium with France, only a few km from Boulogne. It is
along the coastline of Cap griz nez and Cap blanc nez. There, we
visited rocky shore community. The comunity has proven to be the
most versatile habitats due to their their accessibility to
observation and to the strong physiological gradient, ranging from
fully marine to terrestrial habitats. The physiological gradient
makes it relatively easy to see the interactions of physiological
performance and interspecies interactions.
At Wimereux every one are
obliged to formulate their own projects. In order to do that,
first and second day were arranged by giving us introduction and
site visit to the location. We are introduced to different
zonation of biota that occured there. It was a very interesting
introduction. Before we walked there, we brought a bucket to
collect any animals or plants that we were interested to. So,
while listening to the lecture, we can also see from a close
distance all the organisms in the rocky shore area, touch them
and brought back to the lab if we would like to. At the
end of the lecture, I saw inside my friends' buckets many
organisms like sea anemonie, seastars, brittle stars, shrimps,
crabs, oyster, mussels, algae, amphipods, and many more. As soon
as we arrived, we put all those animals inside an aquarium. Each
person had their own aquarium to put all those organisms that
they found.
Enjoy the photos...
