Air quality estimation of the complex objects influence

Abstract: Two different methodologies have been applied together for estimation of air pollution quality for complex objects – airport regions. A method for determination of the parameters of the reassign system and for calculation of the distribution and the expected pollution concentration in the surface layer and a method for determination of the traffic emissions and distribution of the pollution concentration in the surface layer have been used. These methods are approved as a national regulatory standards from Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, the first one - for evaluation of the anthropogenic impacts on the air quality and for planning of new industrial pollution sources and the second one - for evaluation of the traffic on the air quality. The numerical result’s analysis shows that objects of investigation have not great influence to the ambient air quality in the regions of nearest villages.

Characteristics of aerobic edta-utilizing bacteria isolated from wastewater, sludge and river water

Abstract. Ten bacterial mixed cultures, which were obtained from water and dam slime around thermal sources, drilling and springs, Maritza River water, activated sludge from industrial wastewater treatment plant, slime and water from rice-fields were investigated. These cultures utilized Na2EDTA as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen for growth under aerobic conditions. A gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, members of families Enterobacteriaceae and Rhizobiaceae and genera Aeromonas, Alcaligenes, Arthrobacter, Bacillus, Escherichia, Pseudomonas and Xanthomonas were identified in the mixed bacterial cultures.

Anaerobic digestion of complex mixture of organic wastes

Abstract. Different ratios of organic wastes – waste activated sludge from municipal wastewater treatment plants, cattle manure and cheese way, in binary and triple mixtures on the biogas yield have been investigated. The time for reaching of the process steady state in laboratory anaerobic digesters have been determined to be ten days period. Results obtained have shown that some binary mixtures are more perspective in regards to biogas production optimization. It has been found that the addition of 3rd substrate to some binary mixtures could lead to decrease of bioprocess effectiveness.

А hybrid approach for modelling of microbial population dynamics: an example of anaerobic wastewater treatment

Abstract. In this work we combine the deterministic ODEs modelling with neural network approach. First we analyse the classical Monod type model. Identifiability analysis and parameter estimation are based on the available information from the measured variable(s). We assume the estimated model describes the investigated processes sufficiently well. After that we apply neural network modelling in order to obtain on-line estimates of the non-observed process variables. Thus our approach combine the advantage of including the most important biochemical information, and in the same time produce much faster results for the estimates of non-observed state variables. The results from our anaerobic digestion example show that after successful parameter estimation in the Monod type model the feedforward neural network is trained efficiently and can be used for future on-line estimation of substrate and biomass concentration.

Abstract. In the paper some results about a provenance test with twenty european provenances of Picea abies (L.) Karst at the age of 32 years, located in Rila mountain, "Govedartzi" experimental station are presented. The interaction of the origin of the seeds and the indicators survival rate, diameter at breast height and height growth is examined.

Effect of pH on the regeneration capacity of leaves segments of Populus tremuloides

Abstract. At an optimal nutritional and hormonal regime during in vitro cultivation of the Populus tremuloides leaves’ segments, the pH–value determined strongly their organogenic capacity in vitro. It was find out that the decreasing of the pH value strongly diminished the explants potential to produce adventitious shoots and at the lowest pH value – 2.0 the percent of the regenerated leaves’ segments was 12.8%. The increasing of the pH value lead to the expansion of the organogenic potential and at value pH 5.8 (control variant) reached 89.7%. The further increasing up of the pH value of the nutrient medium inhibited the regeneration capacity sufficiently. The results received demonstrate that the extreme pH value influence negatively explants regeneration ability. The obtained results are good prerequisite for further selection of sustainable lines and study genetic control on the adaptive mechanism.
