An Invocation to Bride

I take Bride as my Advocate
Dear to me is Erin,
Dear to me each land
Praise be to it!

White Flame of Lienster,
Enlighten the whole land,
Chief of Erins Maidens
Chief of Finest Women

Dark the bitter winter,
Cutting its sharpness;
But Brides mantle
Brings spring to Ireland

               Brigit's Cross

Definition: An equal armed cross woven from straw in honor of Ireland's Saint Bridget (Bride, Brighid, Brigid) on her holiday, Candlemas, held on the second of February. There is a very strong likelihood that there never was such a personage as St. Bridget, and that she may have been a cover for worship of the Celtic Goddess of the same name.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
