Planned Technology Project

I have a particular planned project in mind for students. I would like to create a web quest that would have students brainstorm ideas for after-school activities that would serve a wider range of students. Most after school programs for students are either tutoring programs or athletic programs. The School City of East Chicago is fortunate enough that they have developed parterships with the Foundations of East Chicago and the East Chicago Parks and Recreation Department in distributing information about programs that they sponsor. But still, I think students should investigate what other after school activities are available in other neighboring cities. Many students in East Chicago rarely leave the city limits due to economic challenges. But perhaps if they were able to see that other school districts in neighboring cities offered sports, arts and educational programs in a wide variety of formats for a wider range of children, it would encourage them to become more vocal in asking for specific programs.
My project would focus on students being asked to be on a panel of activity planners for after-school activities. Students would do research on the internet to find out what neighboring cities offer as after school activities. Next, students will then be assigned the task of researching student interests and offering "new program choices" by taking surveys based on interests. They would create charts and graphs to find the most popular activities. Based on research findings, students would then create a presentation to a school administrator, representatives of the parks department and foundation members regarding after-school activity offerings.
