The "Living Element", fire is ascociated with eternal divinity, passion, life and destruction.
The Salamander is akin to the little lizard in the mundane world. It is named the Fire's Elemental by Aristotle due to the resistance it has to fire, and it's habit of charging any flame as if it were it's enemy. The myth that it lived in the fire was due to the torpid state it takes in spring. Salamanders were often carried in with the winter fire wood and lit aflame, awaking with enough time to secrete the milky white liquid that gives it the resistance to fire, and escape the flames.
