2005 News & Updates
9 March -- Update to our Breeding Philosophy and Puppy Placement page.  No, we haven't changed our philosophy <g>, I've just expanded upon it a bit and tried to clarify our puppy reservation process.

20 February --
Another good day at the shows.  At the Keomah KC show in Des Moines, Firbi picked up his first point going WD/BOS.  Cooper was RWD.  Talon was WB/BOW/BOB for 1 pt.  This brings her point total to 12 and singles her out.  She just needs that last major to become a champion!  Mise, Talon's littermate, was RWB.

7 February --
Some more sad news.  Last week, Tia strip tested positive for glucose in her urine -- one of the initial warning signs of fanconi.  At this time, her bloodwork is inconclusive.  After consulting with my vet and Dr. Gonto (author of the Fanconi protocol), we've decided to start Tia on a mild version of the Fanconi protocol, and redo the lab work when her sugar spilling becomes more consistent (right now, she is spilling sugar about 60% of the time).  The good news is that we have caught whatever the problem is early.  Updates will appear here as they become available.

6 February --
Talon has a repeat performance of her Reserve Winners Bitch under judge Mr. Boulton.

5 February --
A nice start to our 2005 show season.  At the St. Joseph KC show, Mise was Winners Bitch/Best of Opposite Sex for 2 pts.  Littermate, Talon, was Reserve Winner's Bitch, and Firbi was Reserve Winner's Dog to a major -- his first all breed show.  (His show debut was at Nationals last September).  Judge was Mrs. Francis Colonna.

1 February --
Some sad news to start the New Year.  Today I had to help Czar, my doberman pinscher, cross the Rainbow Bridge.  In a way, Czar was the reason I got "into" basenjis.  Although I love the doberman breed, I did NOT enjoy the politics involved in showing them!  Czar was the epitome of what a doberman should be -- kind and loving, protective when he should be, goofy and clownlike but elegant and regal.  Czar had been suffering from a degenerative neuropathy that progressed to the point he was having great trouble walking without assistance.  Rest in peace my sweet boy.
