I had a gamegear when I was a little kid. At the time, the gamegear's
superior abilities and bright colors won me over - unfortunately, the
portable console's lack of good games ultimately resulted in the machine's
demise. Posthumously, it is interesting to note that in Japan, there were
quite a few good games for the gamegear; obviously, none of them made it
to the states. One thing I didn't like about the gamegear was that the
hardware box showed a picture of the gamegear with a Genesis Sonic game
screen pasted on to it. What a letdown!
This game provides an introduction to a bunch of gamegear games, most of
them Japanese, as well as providing game guides for some of them, and
short reviews of each game. The games here are in order from best to
worst.

Lunar - Sanpo Suru Gakuen
RPG 4 Megabit
This Lunar spinoff is a surprisingly good game.
A completely different story from the original Lunar games,
this gamegear-only game features lovable characters,
great character designs, good graphics, an endearing storyline,
and funny dialogue. This is a very good RPG; it is unfortunate
that the lack of gamegear owners led to few players actually experiencing
this game. (5/5)

Royal Stone
Simulation RPG 4 Megabit
This game is actually the sequel of a game that was released in the US
called Crystal Warriors. This new game has beautiful graphics,
many options, varied gameplay, and more. The story is somewhat cliche,
but the game itself more than makes up for this slight shortcoming.
This very good game is a great improvement from the first game of this
series. (4/5)

Shining Force Gaiden
Simulation RPG 4 Megabit
This game continues where Shining Force for the Genesis left off.
Although shorter and smaller, this game is still quite good and
a lot of fun. The field graphics are much less detailed, of course,
but the character portraits for this game are actually better than those
for the Genesis! There is no longer any town interaction, but towns were
kind of annoying, anyway. Levels are now easier to gain; battles are
sometimes a little difficult to control. (4/5)

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon
S
Action 4 Megabit
This game is actually not bad at all when considering that this game
is meant for little girls. Not-too-difficult action coupled with
lots of little mini-games and well-made graphics give this game
great appeal to fans of the show. However, there is not much replay
value after beating this game with both main characters. (3/5)

GG Doraemon Norasuke no
Yabou Action 4 Megabit
Doraemon comes to the gamegear in this well-animated and colorful
action game. Doraemon walks, crawls, climbs, jumps, and uses various
weapons while collecting dorayaki and bells (1-ups). While Doraemon
looks very good, this game seems to be far more difficult than
the target audience (young children) should be able to handle. (3/5)

Ariel Disney's The Little Mermaid
Action 2 Megabit
This game, based on the Disney animated feature, is terrible!
The only good thing about this game is the title screen, which,
I must admit, is pretty nice. The game itself is not very fun,
and quite difficult, which should deter the little kids who would
want to play this game in the first place. Well, at least some
of the side characters from the movie are drawn less terrible
than Ariel is. (1/5)
