<intr>Xeg-Yi look like black, gray floating orbs with many radiating, tentacle-like protrusions, as well as dull, metallic orbs for eyes.</intr>
  <comb>
<combat>A Xeg-Yi's touch sends a surge of anti-energy that causes 1d6+6 damage from massive
cell death, as well as chilling touched materials. Every other round, a Xeg-Yi
can also release a bolt of anti-energy that equals its touch at a range of 10 feet at a
single target. The bolt chills metal and magic metal unless the owner succeeds in a
save vs. lightning (11 for hard metal, 16 for soft metal, modifed by magic). A failed
save results in 1d4 damage per segment of contact with the chilled metal. Xag-ya are
affected by heat magic, <i>disintegration</i>, <i>magic missiles</i>, <i>maces of disruption</i>, and <i>rods of
cancellation</i>, with no ill effects to the items involved. The <i>shield</i> spell defends
against the attacks of a Xeg-yi, and a <i>circle of protection</i> will repel them.
<i>Abjure</i>, <i>alter reality</i>, <i>banishment</i>, <i>dismissal</i>, <i>dispel magic</i> (treat
at magic level of 2 x HD), <i>holy word</i>, <i>limited wish</i>, <i>plane shift</i>, or <i>wish</i> spells can slay
or return the creatures to their home plane; all other magic or spells are useless.
If a Xeg-Yi and a Xag-Ya should meet, they will rush together and destroy each other,
releasing a 30' radius explosion doing 4d6+24 damage, with a save for 1/2 damage.
<br></br>
Slaying a Xeg-Yi will release a burst of negative energy that does 2d6+12 damage in a
10 foot radius, with the same metal chilling effect as a discharged bolt. Xeg-Yi also have
some psionic prowess, but tend not to use them except to defend from psionic attacks.</combat>

<habi>Xeg-Yi, Trillochs, and Balhiir are the only denizens of the Negative Material Plane, and seem to be
the only lifeforms that can thrive there. Xeg-Yi, although likely highly intelligent, seem
mindless by human standards, but if met on the Negative Material Plane may respond to attempts at
communication. Xeg-Yi may agree (1-4 on a 1d8) to act as a guide on the Negative Material Plane
if the request is somehow communicated effectively.</habi>
<ecol>Xeg-Yi inhabit the Negative Material Plane, but sages surmise that they
originated in a demi-plane elsewhere, later finding and thriving on the Negative Material
Plane. Along with the Xag-Ya, a few wizards have also managed to conjure these creatures
to use as guards for treasure, but the methods for doing so are not widely known. Xeg-Yi
are very similar to the Xag-Ya, but the nature of this relationship has not yet been explored
by sages in detail.</ecol>
