The SBO Presidency

Campaign Speech
Delivered on July 24, 2006 at the Engineering Grounds

Dean Araceli V. Domagas, respected faculty members, fellow students good morning.

Today is a beautiful Monday morning, the beginning of the week. It is also the time to have a good start again. Today we are gathered here in one purpose, for you to know us as candidates vying for different positions of the SBO. And as the incumbent administration leaves their positions, the presidency is here now once again at stake.

Presidency a key position that we must choose well whom we will vest the power. A position that we must think well before making the final decision tomorrow because we have only one time to exercise our right to vote each year.

Once again I am here in front of you submitting myself for you to choose from for the SBO President. For those who havent known me yet, I am Geoffrey Salvador, an ECE student and concurrently the incoming IECEP President this school year. I have once stood before you last year during the last election but unfortunately I have lost. Yes, I have lost the presidential race last year by a remarkable 8 vote margin. I may be defeated but I know in my own I won. I won the true battle of contributing programs that would benefit the whole engineering studentry. That in my simple way of serving you through my position in the ECES I have exerted my best to show you that a leader serves madi lang iti sao ngem mas lallalo iti aramid nga isu dapat ti pakakitaan. A leader shows a complete evidence of his words.

Let me take this opportunity to give some highlights of my leadership. With the indulgence of Mr. Godofredo L. Batarao III, our incumbent ECES president and currently the IECEP Board of Director Chairman, who could forget the Engineering Challenge 2005. An activity dream come true for the ECES family. Mahirap simulan ang isang bagay na wala kang makitang isa rin bagay na maari mong maging basehan to start the activity. And I remember the challenge of our beloved dean noon when we are requesting for the permission to conduct the activity, binigyan niya kami ng challenge to exert all other possible way of raising fund na hindi nangongolketa ng registration fees sa mga participants. And eventually I and Godos teamworks worked out and we have able to launched the Engineering Challenge a very successful one. Marami ang nag-enjoy na magsolb ng problems even though di sila participants, the feeling of being a quizzer solving problems under time pressure, the frustration of getting wrong answers and the joy of getting the correct one, the joy of winning. And from that activity, IECEP ensures you that you must now prepare for a bigger and tougher Engineering Challenge 2006.

Now, in my short term as IECEP President, I have able to contact the national officers of the IECEP for our membership in regional level and eventually we have attended the regional meeting last June 30, 2006 at Holy Angel University for only just one week after my election into the IECEP presidency. And the aim of IECEP to be recognized not only in our school but entire the region and the national level, will soon come into reality. Maybe this is the reason that many want me to remain in IECEP alone. But I want to assure our dear advisers, Sir Dominic, Madam Aivee and Sir Jimmy and to IECEP members that my candidacy for the SBO presidency is the beginning of new and brighter vision not only for the IECEP alone but all the departments of the College of Engineering. I want to share what I have done to IECEP sa lahat. Kung nakaya kong pagandahin ang IECEP, mas marami akong gustong mangyari para sa buong College of Engineering. And do not worry about my responsibility in IECEP for it still remain at hindi ko ito pababayaan. I assure you that nothing would change that way I serve the IECEP.

The question now is, why do I run the SBO presidency? Because, I being equipped with much experience and knowledge I know I could serve you with much quality and with your satisfaction. Kung ibibigay ninyo sa akin ang inyong pagtitiwala sa pagkapangulo ng SBO, I want to assure you that hindi ninyo pagsisisihan ang inyong pagboto sa akin. I would serve you to the fullest I can hindi lang sa salita kung mas lalo sa sa gawa.

The phrase is --- mas lalo sa gawa. Our election tomorrow will also be a survey whether you like our programs or not. Let me take this time to ask you, ayaw ninyo bang maayos an gating mga uncomfortable comfort room? Nakikita ninyo naman, sa boys CR, iisa lang ang nagagamit. Pumipila pa tayo just use the CR. Sa CR naman sa tabi ng 106 ay nabalitaan ko na minsan ay may nakita yata na ahas doon very dangerous. At sa CR naman sa 3rd floor, mapanghi po. Let us admit that reality pero may magagawa tayo. Your vote counts for the improvement of these facilities. For every vote you write in my favor is a vote for the attainment to improve our comfort rooms. Even though I have not won the presidency yet, I have already consulted this matter to a certain person - a friend who could help us to improve our CRs without much expense of the SBO. And to that person, thank you in advance and thank you for supporting me. You know who you are and thank you very much.

Now, it is up in your hand my fellow students, kung gusto ninyong maayos natin ang ating mga CRs para maging comfortable and mga uncomfortable Crs natin then VOTE for me for president kasama na ang buong party ng U1. And the U1 party assure you that more projects would come for the benefit of all. For in U1 you are No. 1!

Make up your mind! Choose the best for engineering deserves the best. If you think I can do the job, then vote me isulat sa inyong balota sa pagkapangulo GEOFFREY SALVADOR. Thank you very much!

How about...
