Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact
INTASC
# 7
· Brief Description of
Evidence:
I read Water, Water and A Cool Drink of Water
to the children during circle for water week.
We discussed the different uses for water and what we have done with
water. We discussed how water is good
for us and that everyone even animals drink water.
· Analysis of What I Learned:
If a child asks to look at the book after reading it but
still during circle time to explain to them that circle time is not over and
that they will be able to after circle time.
· How This Artifact
Demonstrates my Competence on the INTASC Principle:
This is an example of my lesson plans that are based on the
students and the curriculum.
Water Circle Plan

physical, cognitive, and social domains will be enhanced during this activity.
Foundation(s)
Addressed:
1Provides the child with a wide range of books and appropriate printed materials.
2 Reads to child daily in such a way that the child can examine the pictures, discuss all aspects of meaning, and become aware of the format of print.
Objectives: The children will be able to recognize
that fish live in water and we drink water.
The children will be able to relate with the boy in the story and that
everyone drinks water. The children
will be able to describe different uses of water. The children will be able to move with the songs.
Materials: Water, Water by Eloise Greenfield
and pictures by Jan Spivey Gilchrist
A cool drink
of Water by Barbara
Kerley
Sock, Rubber
band, Crayon, and note card
Baby Beluga CD by
Raffi #1 and 10
Motivation: Play the song #10 from the Baby Beluga
CD which sounds like water, so the children will know that is it time to start
circle time.
Procedure: Ask the children if they know what water
is and what they can do with water.
Discuss the different uses of water, drinking, swimming, and living
(fish). Read the story Water, Water
and ask the children if they see the water on pages 2, 3, and 7. At the end of the book, ask the children if
they have ever been swimming before and go back to page 5 to show them what you
mean. Discuss about drinking water and
how it is good for you. If there is
enough time read the book A cool drink of Water. Discuss the pictures and who is drinking the
water. Have the children stand up so
they can dance to the Baby Beluga song and pretend to be a whale swimming. Sing and sign the Alphabet song with the
children.
Closure: The different centers for the day will be described such as building
bridges in blocks, tearing paper and pasting mosaics in art, and toothbrush
painting and bubbles at the easel. The
children are going to guess by placing their hands in socks to see what is
inside of them. When the children have
had a chance to guess they will go to the center of their choice described to
before.
