Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact
INTASC
# 3
· Brief Description of
Evidence:
I reflected about how I change circle when Brennan is at
school. I make sure that when he is
there that he has a chance everyday to say what he would like to say about the
story or the activity that is going on at the time.
· Analysis of What I Learned:
I learned that listening to Brennan and making sure that he
has a chance to talk is adapting the lesson towards Brennan or an individual.
· How This Artifact Demonstrates
my Competence on the INTASC Principle:
This demonstrates my ability to look at a child’s abilities
and adapt circle or activities so that the child could do it on their own or
get their point across.

For circle today I read the story
Farmer Will. The story is about a boy
that has a toy cow, horse, pig, and sheep.
I asked a few questions during the story and a few children would yell
out the answers. During the middle of
the story though I asked a question that Brennan really wanted to answer and he
wanted to tell me what he was thinking about the animals at the time. Instead of just saying what he had to say
while others were talking, he needed everyone to stop talking and from me to
give all my attention to him. If the
children do not stop talking or I do not give my full attention to him he will
start screaming until it happens. So
lately during circle time, I make sure that when he is there that he has a
chance everyday to say what he would like to say about the story or the
activity that is going on at the time.
If Brennan is not there then I do not have to worry about giving him a
time to talk and I just keep reading and asking the children questions and
predictions about the story that I am reading.
This is working at the time but I wonder if it will always work. I am not sure how that I could let him know
that I do can about what he is saying and that I do hear him. I want to make sure that I do not discourage
from using his words but I want him to know that he does not have to scream at
me to make me listen to him.
