Comrades,
I attended the Gold Star Mothers monument dedication at
the Private Leonard Post Jr VFW Post 6251 on Sunday, September 27th. Jason Maybach,
14, of Boy Scout Troop 85 headed the project as his Eagle Scout project. I will be attending Buffalo Fire Department Awards Dinner at the
Hyatt Hotel on October 2nd with our Awards Chairman, PSC Bob
Seagrave. Also
will be attending the Fall Conference in Albany
October 16-18, along with many delegates from our Erie County
Council posts. County
membership is off to a good start and our Voice of Democracy &
Patriot’s Pen programs are underway.
See you all at the next County & Membership meeting at Hamburg Post 1419 on the
12th. Also, thanks to
the Frontiersman Post 7545 for hosting our last meeting and providing an
outstanding dinner in September.

As our year continues, I would like to take this
opportunity to help the membership of not only the individual posts, but also
the county. The National Personnel
Records Center
(NPRC) has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their
DD-214’s online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov/. Not only can this site be helpful for a
veteran who needs a copy of his DD-214 for employment, this site can also be a
useful tool to determine the eligibility of prospective VFW
members. As an example,
those Navy personnel having served off shore during any conflict, an updated
DD-214 may contain an Expeditionary award they were not aware of, and this will
provide proof of eligibility.
Please bring a new member of your Post to our next meeting, Monday the
12th at the Hamburg
Township Post 1419. Get your flu shot as soon as
possible.

Summer is past and fall is here. Summer activities are just about over
which gives us time for other things.
This provides us with an opportunity to energize our efforts toward
membership at our respective posts.
I encourage everyone to make that extra effort. If you need help, feel free to contact
me and I will respond to your needs.
Remember, “Think Membership” is this year’s
motto. God bless our troops and God
bless America.
