766-0377 Animal Control Officer: Scott Goodwin Volunteer Coordinator: Nancy Cloward Our Visiting Hours are: Monday - Friday ~ 12:00pm - 2:30pm Saturday ~ 9:30am - 12:00pm Sunday ~ 9:30am - 11:30am Give the shelter a call first to make sure we are there, we try to keep these hours as much as possible but sometimes it can be hard with just us volunteers! Volunteer Services for Animals, a statewide organization to improve conditions in municipal shelters, was incorporated into the North Smithfield animal pound in 1981. Great progress has been made in animal welfare during this time. With the help of The Friends of the North Smithfield Shelter, formed in 1990, we have gone from a one room pound to a state of the art facility, and from a "dog catcher" to an Animal Control Officer willing to work with the volunteers to help save animals' lives. Every animal is now evaluated on an individual basis by the Animal Control Officer and an animal technician. | ||
