Welcome to the Echo 111th FA's home page. I am the First
Sergeant of Echo Battery, 111th Field Artillery at Sandston,
Virginia. I have provided links on our page which are beneficial to
members of my unit and to the Field Artillery (The King of Battle)
noncommissioned officer. The artillery NCO corps began as the
most professional organization in the US army, which dates back to
the pre-revolutionary war era. Then, the field artillery NCO was
charged with more responsibility than his counterparts in the
infantry (The Queen of Battle) and the cavalry. The infantry NCO
had the great responsibility of caring for his soldiers and their
personal weapons; and the cavalry NCO had the added
responsibility of their mounts. The artillery NCO had the same
responsibilities, and the additional required tactical and technical
skills of maintaining and operating their cannons. Crew drills and
maintenance skills were developed first by artillery soldiers. Thus
began the rich Redleg tradition which includes Molly Pitcher, Saint
Barbara, and the most devastating firepower ever witnessed in
history. The present day artillery NCO corps must preserve the rich
tradition which our predecessors established. I am committed to
leading this unit in such a way as to make our soldiers, veterans,
and our nation proud. This page is dedicated to those artillery
soldiers who died in service to our nation.
