| Judy Garland was born Frances Ethel Gumm, and changed it in regards to her film career. She first began at the age of four as a family act know as the Gumm sisters along with her two elder siblings. They would perform at the theatre with there father Frank Gumm was the manager and had inspired the young Frances 'baby' Gumm. At a young age, she was forced on staged by her mother, who had got her into auditions for film studios including MGM. (Judy did a performance of 'Zing went the string of my heart in 1938) She, had dedicated the song to her late father who had recently died. Judy was the only hollywood star to never do a screen test. She first began do small low budget films like Broadway melody of 1938. Her experience had led her to her dream role of playing Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Young Judy continued her success in major films like 'Meet me in St. Louis', 'Easter Parade', and 'till the cloud come rollin' by'. Occasionally she would act alongside her favourite co star Mickey Rooney in the Andy Hardy films and great musicals like 'strike up the band' and 'babes in arms'. When judy turned nineteen she announced that she was to marry Brit musican David Rose, whome she soon became pregnant with. Louis Mayor shock at the prospect of one of his biggest stars having a baby forced her to have an abortion. Later she divorced Rose and in 1944 married Vincente Minnelli. Judy had many facsations with many of her co-stars and teen idols like : Tyrone powers, Gene Kelly, Mickey Rooney and Artie Shaw.
