"I know I am rotten through and through so far as my old sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn, I can't make myself do right. I want to, but I can't. When I want to do good, I don't. And when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway. But if I am doing what I don't want to do, I am not really the one doing it; the sin within me is doing it." Romans 7: 18-20
He goes on to speak about how he is a miserable person and who would save him. He notes that he is still a slave to sin. "Thank God" he notes that salvation is through Jesus Christ.
It occured to me recently after I had given up on a particular sin that I am not entirely freed from sin. Jesus has freed me, however I still am used to the slave life. Somedays my life feels like I am free but don't know the extent of my freedom yet. Jesus everyday shows me a new area of freedom i never knew I had.
Most often times it comes from a learned state that I have recieved from the world. We grow up thinking a certain way. Certain ideas, morals, idologies. But when God gets in there He teaches us differently than what the world teaches.
Through His Holy Spirit He teaches us about true morals. True love and the benefits of acting out such as these.
This last month has been a big freedom blast for me personally. I was freed from the fear of other person, that my God is my safety. Also, in how to love when the world states that its not worth the time to love that person. God made the time to love me and show me His love. I will make the time for this other and show them my love.
There is freedom in Jesus Christ. Let Him show you where you are a slave so you can be set free.
