Development of Hand Support for Epidermolysis Bullosa Sufferers

Hi! My name is Ishrat Khawja and I am a Mechanical Design Engineering student at the University of Westminster, London, England. I am currently working on my final year project in which my overall objective is to develop a mechanical aid for epidermolysis bullosa (EB) sufferers. The aid is to be used in applicational therapy, particularly, in the prevention of hand contracture. To assist me with this, I would appreciate it if I could take some of your time in asking you to fill out the following questionnaire. Also, could you please let others know about this page. In order for you not to waste time or effort, please note that as the project deals with the development of a hand support, the questionnaire is aimed only at those whose hands are affected. If you experience any problems please send me an email, explaining what the problem is, at [email protected].

Questionnaire

1) If you do not suffer from EB, how is the sufferer related to you (e.g. husband, daughter, nephew, you are their carer)? If you are related to more than one sufferer, please either chose one to fill this out about or fill out a separate questionnaire about each sufferer.

2) How old is the sufferer?

3) What form of EB does the sufferer have?

What is the variant (if any)?

4) At what age was the EB diagnosed?

Has the sufferer had any form of surgery?
