The word "oboe" comes from French ; "hautbois" (haut = high, bois = wood). Because in the 17th century Hotteterre invented the oboe, improving a double-reed instrument ; shawm (chalemie). And in the 19th century Triebert reformed the key system as the "conservatoire system" (the 6th system), this system is popularized worldwide. The oboe was born and brought up in France, so the oboe is one of the most french instruments (which corresponds with the french taste). Introducing works for oboe or where oboe has an important rôle, I try to make clear the essence of the french classical music.
