Western Trail Guide
The western trails are great fun. The trails range from double black diamonds to blue squares! In total there are 2 double-black diamond, 5 black diamonds, 5 Blue Squares, and 7 green circles. All 4 lifts give you access to the Wester Trails, but only certain lifts to certain trails. Below you can see a summary of the trails.

The highest of the Wester Trails starts at Maple Slalom Chute, it extends to the right(If facing the mountain Sun Valley, (Last Chance is considered a Wester Trail too) The Wester Trails extend West until Whitneys Hill, a fabulous yet partially steep beginner's slope.

Mr. Rew- You could almost describe this trail in one wrok "steep". This trail is so steep that you look at it from the red-double lift and ask yourseft is that even a trail. About half-way down it take a sudden dive and then it is all ledge. While skiing and riding at Black I have never seen anybody take an attemt at it but I have seen tracks coming down the trail. It is so steep that, like Lostbo, it doesn't hold the snow too well.
Mr Rew. Glades- On either side of Mr. Rew is a glade, They just like Mr. Rew are extremly steep but they tend to hold the snow much better that the trail it-self. In this glade you need to dodge fallen trees as well as watch out for sudden drops and rock drop-offs. Looks like another fun but scary trail.

Maple Salaom Chute- A short but not that hard trail indeed. If you are an intermediate skier/ rider looking to advance to the next step, this may be the trail to do so on. Really, it is more like a blue square than a black-diamond, and in My opinion the only reason it is considered a black-diamond is becaus at the (skier's) right side there is a very steep drop/descent and a sign the says "Danger Cliff." This trail is most easily acessed by getting off hlaf-way on the red double lift. The trail ranges from 8-20 feet wide but is easily doable by an intermediate skier.
Upper Speedwell-This trail can vary from day-to-day and from season-season. One day it may be icy and a nightmare to go through, the next it will be the nicest trail on the mountain. You either love this trail or hate it. The top is pretty steep and it can be moguls at time, other days it is groomed out. Then you come down to a flat spot, continue down about 20 feet and you can take a right onto Bob-O-Link, or you can continue down the rest of Upper Speedwell until it gets to and intersection(PLEASE STOP HERE). Look every direction before you keep on going, you can keep going straight and take Lower Speedwell or you can take an uphill traverse to Big Dipper or you could take the route I would reccomend most, continuing onto Bob-O-Link.
T2- This is one of the glades the Black is best known for. You start off at the top with a cliff, yes a cliff even on a single black diamond glade. This is not a 5 or 6 foot cliff, but instead a 10 or 12 foot cliff. I do not reccomend this trail unless there has been a recent powder dump. Once you are past the cliff, the glade is on the steepness of Upper Speedwell, but the trees are spread out enough that it is possible. Please only venture into T2 if you are and expert skier/rider.
Last Chance-This trail is basically a chance to get onto Mr. Rew. Black diamond because you don't want to lead a beginner down Mr. Rew.
No Turning Back-More info coming soon. Mainly just a cut through

Sun Valley- This trail can have some nice moguls up at the top and then it proceeds to be just an ordinary groomed out trail. From this trail you can reach alot of places.
Bob-O-Link-You can acess this trail from Upper Speedwell, or at the intersetion from Valley View. if you take it from Upper Spedwell, you have a good chance of having moguls and about the steepness of a black diamond for about 50 feet. After you get to the intersection the trail is usually groomed and it is very fun. You go down next to the neighborhood and such. If there is enough snow, *cough*duck the x-c ski rope and ski down the road and the snowbanks*cough* have fun.
