One day while standing upon the hills near Sparta Ares surveyed his army amassed below. They were a good army, vicious, well trained and very loyal to Ares.
"Nothing in the world can defeat my troops." Ares said to himself.
"I beg to differ great Ares." Morpheus replied.
"Oh do you Morpheus? I don't mean in dreams I mean out here."
"So do I."
"Prove it, defeat Synoth if you can."
"What are the stakes?"
"If I win, you will train my troops in dreams to be fearless and unbeatable."
"And if I win I want one month of peace, no wars, anywhere"
"I won't lose. There will be no peace."
"We'll see, first I need to get in Synoth's dreams to see what he fears."
"Good luck, you'll find there is nothing he fears beyond me." Morpheus waited until Synoth fell asleep, then entered his dreams. In the dream Synoth was in the middle of a field, looking very agitated.
"What troubles you sir?" Morpheus asked him.
"The have me surrounded on all sides, they'll kill me with their sharp pointy teeth." Synoth said.
"What will?"
"That!" Synoth pointed and Morpheus saw Synoth's greatest fear and chuckled as he exited the dream.
"Did you find what you wanted?" Ares asked him.
"Oh yes indeed. I'll be back by the time he awakens with what I need." Morpheus walked into the forest and returned a few hours later with something under his cloak.
"Synoth, what do you fear?" Ares asked.
"Nothing at all my lord, except you." Synoth replied.
"Well Morpheus, prove his fear if you can."
"Synoth, you fear nothing right?"
"That's right Dream God." Morpheus reached into his cloak and pulled out a fluffy white rabbit. Synoth screamed in terror and ran away mumbling about sharp pointy teeth.
"A rabbit?!? a rabbit defeated my mightiest soldier? I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it."
"Everyone has a deep dark fear, some only show them in nightmares, no matter how tough they are everyone can be scared by something."
"Well Dream God, got anything else to say?"
"Peace," Morpheus faded back into the land of dreams, leaving Ares standing alone.
