As we began thinking of where to begin our journey through the small but fabulous eating spots in this area, we could think of no better place than right in our own backyard. The logical starting point was Montereys very own Cup and Saucer. We have both eaten here hundreds of times, and never has the food been anything but great. Whenever we think of small town hospitality and nostalgia, Cup and Saucer comes to mind. The many old photographs that line the walls take you back in time and show how Monterey looked in the 1920s and 1930s. This restaurant has been a Monterey mainstay for the better part of the past 50 years. Thousands upon thousands of good meals have been served here through those years, always with a friendly smile.
We chose to visit for lunch on Thursday August 15th. Once again, everything we tried from the menu was fabulous. Brian enjoyed the Grilled Chicken, Baked Potato, Salad, and Rolls. The chicken was very tasty and had a hint of lemon pepper seasoning. Joey tried the lunch special, consisting of Sauerkraut and Wieners, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and Baby Carrots. Everything was well cooked, reasonably priced, and served by friendly people who always seem to know your name. They offer a full menu along with daily lunch specials. Their breakfast menu is sure to get your day started off on the right foot also. Cup and Saucer is the next best thing to your mothers kitchen and is the best of Monterey for any meal of the day.
We highly recommend that you visit Cup and Saucer in the near future. They are located at 118 E. Commercial Avenue, and their hours are 6am to 7pm. Their number is 931-839-6149. When you visit, tell new owner Paul Weist that the guys at Eating Tennessee told you to come by.
We hope that you will continue to join us here each week for new restaurant ideas right here in our own backyard. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to drop us a line at [email protected]. We wish you health, wealth, and a good appetite. |
