GAFFI STICK
Gaffi stick.
Mike's Gaffi Stick (short for Gaderffi Stick) was constructed from pre-threaded PVC tubing and connectors, pieces of wood slats, a wooden dowel, a plastc Rubbermaid bowl, and the cap to a plastic mustard bottle.

A 3/4 inch diameter section of PVC tubing was cut 25 inches in length.  At the threaded end, a 3/4 inch elbow joint was attached.  At the other end a 3/4-to-1/2 inch reducer coupling was attached.  A 13 inch long piece of 1/2 inch diameter tubing was threaded into this coupling. 4 pieces of 6 inch long, 3/8 inch thick wood slats were fixed to the top of this section, evenly spaced, with epoxy.  A 1/2 inch diameter wooden dowel was sanded to a dull point and inserted into the top section.  A small 3/4 inch threaded piece was glued into the elbow joint and the bowl was threaded onto this via a 3/4 inch hole in the lid.  The mustard cap was fixed to the bottom of the bowl with epoxy.

The Gaffi stick was finished with spray paint, using an undercoat of flat black.  Dark brown paint was then "speckled" onto the handle section to simulate rust, and silver was "misted" onto the blades and tip to simulate dull steel.
