CARAVAN

POINTING KIDS IN THE DIRECTION OF CHRIST

CARAVAN has been around for many years, but is also brand new this year, updated and redesigned for the 21st century!

The word "caravan" refers to a group of travelers. They work together, they learn together and they help each other.

In Caravan, the travelers are children. Their journey is an exciting one that leads them to new insights about themselves, their world, other people, their church, and God.

Caravan is a Christian Scouting program for children in grades 1 - 6. First and Second Graders are called "Searchers."

Year 1 of the Searcher Level is "Hunter," and Year 2 is "Quester." Third and Fourth Graders are called "Explorers," with Year 1 as "Sentry" and Year 2 as "Scout." Fifth and Sixth Graders are "Adventurers." with Year 1 as "Pathfinder," and Year 2 as "Trailblazer." Caravan meets weekly during the school year, (on Wednesday evening here at Eastview.)

Benson's Buddies is a "pre-Caravan" program for preschoolers and Kindergartners. Benson's Buddies is a great way to familiarize young children with the Caravan program.

Preschoolers love traveling with Benson the Bus!

Caravan emphasizes spiritual formation and provides opportunities for children to:

1. Grow in their faith

2. Discover and use essential skills

3. Develop self-esteem.

4. Experience positive relationships and a sense of belonging.

5. Participate in outreach and service projects.

6. Learn about their Christian heritage.

Caravan is Bible-based, with a Bible verse and Bible point as the basis for every badge.

Caravan helps children develop skills they can use throughout life. These skills help with practical everyday living and also strengthen the children's spiritual life.

Caravan gives ministry opportunities, as the children use the skills they've learned to help others. These projects help children realize their self-worth and gives them a sense of belonging.

Caravan helps children learn about God and the church at each level. "I believe" statements and Articles of Faith are learned in the last three years of the program.

Badges are earned each year as skills are learned. These can be displayed on scarves or sashes..

Caravan leaders are called "Guides."
