| Thursday - Full Collapse | ||||||
| This CD is very possibly the greatest thing that I have ever heard in my effin' life!!! Eversince I got this CD from my girlfriend (awww) on my birthday, I haven't gone a day without listening to it. It's that good. Something that isn't good about it though, is that my discman is a very large amount of suck, and the battery containment part is on the inside. The problem with having that on the inside is, it sometimes opens up when you don't want it to, and ruins your favourite CD's, like this one. Sadly, I cannot listen to the second song on this CD, which is one of my favourites. But enough about that, let's talk about the actual sound of the CD, not the condition that mine is in. Thursday are one of those emocore/hardcore-esque bands that mix emoy lyrics with screamy metalness vocals, and very nice sounding riffs, that are (in my books) complex. The singer (who's name I seem to have forgotten) has such a nice range of voice, going from soft and calming vocals, to a bit harder stuff, to some very fine screaming that sounds a bit llike someone drowning in a lonely lake on a tuesday afternoon at 12:03. Now, calling these guys emo would be a lie, but in that case emocor and emo must be different. Please excuse that last sentence, it is late, and i should be in bed, but I am far to lazy to make my way upstairs. The guitarists have this great way of blending that just sounds so effing good that I can't even express it to you, and it's not that easy kind of blending, but some pretty complex riffs. The bass isn't anything too interesting, but it is there, and does it's job by being rhythmic. The drums, now these drums are some of the best that I have ever heard. Just altogether good musicians, and when you put them together, you get good music. A song that sticks out in my mind is "Autobiography of a Nation". Here's where I do the little quote thing - "Write these words back down inside, we have burned there villages and all the people in them died and we adopt their customs, and everything they say, we steal. Still we all sleep sound tonight, is this what you wanted to hear? We erase their images dance and replace them with borders and flags." Not only is it well written, but it is even very true. Isn't this kind of what George "Dubya" Bush is trying to do to Iraq, well, I may be wrong, I was into the moonshine again tonight, but that's not uncommon. Anyways, this CD get's a whopping 5.5/5, yes, it gets over 5, cause it's just that good. |
