Okay, i went to the Finch/The Used show where these guys were playing, and i am very very sad to say that i unfortunately missed them, but only because i was standing in the merch line to buy their cd, and man, i am so incredibly mad that i missed them!!! But the fact remains, these guys rock, and they rock hard. Blending awesome punk, metal, and emo together, these guys dish out the rock in large amounts. I find it very hard to classify these guys under any genre because they are quite original and unique, but yet, aren't. I'm not too sure how to explain it but, they are just altogether awesome. The lyrics are very meaningful, but also quite dark, and emotional, for instance: "But does anyone notice, but does anyone care? And if i had the guts, to put this to your head, and would anything matter if you're already dead? " from - "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" (good song).Somewhat Thursday-like, so now you know they must be good.
The riffs that these guys use are somewhat dark as well. With lot's of semitones, it makes me think of a soundtrack to a horror movie. Alot of unique riffs are used, not your everyday easy and overused (even by me) four chord riffs, no no no my friend, the guitar quality, in my opinion, is pretty good and different than everything else, take for instance "This Is The Best Day Ever", this is one of my personal favourites and the riff is awesome! The voice took me a little while to get used to, but now I'm hooked. I can't think of anyone to compare My Chemical Romance to, besides any band that is good. So what i am trying to say is, go out and buy this album, or at least download a few songs and give them a listen, cause these guys are talented and deserve some recognition.
