| Lost Prophets - The Fake Sound Of Progress | ||||||
| A non emo review?!?! You're probably thinking somethings going wrong, but it's not. This is one of the greatest cd's I have heard in a long time, and I think everyone should take a listen. The Welsh sextet (yes, sextet. That's a fun word is it not?) Lost Prophets are here with their debut release, The Fake Sound Of Progress, and it is killer. Remeber Limp Bizkit? Everyone liked them at least for a little while (I know you did.) Well Lost Prophets are one of the very few bands out there using turntables, like the Bizkit did, only Lost Prophets use it far more enjoyably, and in good taste too. Blending two amazing guitars with crazy bass, some amazingly amazing drumming and sweet use of turntables and samples, Lost Prophets create a sonic experience fit for everyone. If you're into metal, check out their heavier songs, ie. "The Handsome Life Of Swing" "Akward". Or maybe you're into the more mellow stuff, you should check out "Still Laughing" or "Fake Sound Of Progress". The singer, Ian Watkins' voice is a bit high and sort of hard to get used to, but it's good man, full of emotion. Basically this band is six really really good musicians making good music, and they are great performers too, they pull off everything you hear on the cd live. You rarely hear the guitars doing the same thing together, and the bass doesn't usually follow the guitars either. Riffage is quite good too, not any crappy four chord progressions heard here, no no no young bucky, complex riffage is key on this cd. And on top of that, they were like, "Let's add crazy harmonies that no one uses, like sixths!!" So all around, this cd is so good and is worth every penny that I paid, which was about 3150 pennies (it's an import). I give this cd a 4/5, good tunes, good band. |
