Note: brother of Abijah [also called "Hige"] White, Co. K, 14th KY Cav. White, Samuel "Coosie": We all arrived home to begin life anew. I was not at home long until Samuel White came to see me about the oxen I had taken from him. He was a reasonable man. He had been with the Yankees taking things from the Rebels and talked very fair about it. I told him that I had a fine horse which I would give him if he would take him and never law any of us for what I did to him. He said, " All right," and I gave the horse up to him. He and I were good friends after that. He was a brother of Hijah White and a son of old Rachel White, as fine an old lady as could be found.
