East Kings Destroy Bridgetown

East Kings played host to the Bridgetown Midget team last Saturday. This was the first meeting of the two teams and neither coach was sure what the outcome would be.

Both teams came flying out of the gate but within minutes it was all Winterhawks as they stormed the net out-shooting Bridgetown 15-3 but due to the play of Scott Rooney the scored remained tied 0-0 after one.

East Kings continued their domination of the game firing another 26 shots in the second period. Adam Brewster opened the scoring on a goal assisted by Morgan Steele and Mike Sponagle. Adam scored again a few minutes later on a set-up by Morgan and Ryan Murphy. During the same shift Ryan scored with assists awarded to both Morgan and Evan Wittenberg. The Winterhawks headed into the intermission up 3-0.

The third period was a bit more even in play but it was Ryan Murphy of the Winterhawks who scored first on a nice pass from Adam Brewster. Adam then completed his first hat trick of the season when he was set-up by Ryan and Morgan. Morgan then rounded out the scoring when Bret Garby fed him a pass at the blue line and he fired a slap shot from 40 feet out as East Kings defeated Bridgetown 6-0. Evan Warner recorded his first shutout of the season.

East Kings wrap up the first half of the season at Acadia on Saturday at 3:50pm when they take on the top Midget 'A' team in the Central Hockey League from metro, the Sackville Flyers. Come on out for some high flying, entertaining action and cheer on some local talent.
