Susan read minutes of last meeting.
Jim M. moved to adopt minutes and George C. seconded.
George C. thanked Dave Duncan for work on Registration Forms and commented on how they made registration run smoother than in the past.
CANTEEN STATEMENT Cathy and Carrie provided information to indicate that the canteen had made a profit and had a bank balance of 3,662.15. A discussion followed where concerns were voiced. Eg. cleanliness, accountability of staff(volunteers), the drop in high school hockey games last year and the promise of more this year, paying someone to be responsible for the canteen's operation. Jim M. moved that Cathy provide a set of issues and solutions and come back to the committee with a plan. 2nd George C VOTE: YES=11, NO=0 Cathy advised that the following Friday night would be renovation night at the canteen.
HOCKEY SCHOOL Robin F. asked for a volunteer to collect registration money on the first day (Sept 30). Carrie volunteered. The possibility of using old sweaters for "pinnies" was discussed. Robin also advised that a total of 102 had registered but there was an uneven distribution per level eg. Novice 28, Atom 32, PeeWee/Bantam 42. Some time was taken to consult with former coaches/attendees to shuffle some children to more applicable groups eg. first-time Atom players could be placed in introductory level. This resulted in a solution that kept the commitment for hours of ice time. Coaches for all groups were in place except for a few nights.
50/50 DRAW Chris Wood reported on his meeting with Kentville Minor Hockey on this joint venture. He asked for input from other members. Jim M. volunteered for the planning stage, Dave Duncan volunteered and Tim Chiappara's name was mentioned. These 4 people were asked to come back with a game plan so that we can start ASAP in the season. Tickets have to be printed. MOTION made by Peter Hayes: EKMHA officially adopt 50/50 Draw. 2nd Dave Duncan. VOTE: YES=11, NO=0.

Some discussions on who qualifies for our initiation offer of $150.
ROLLOUT OF ICE Brian advised that after hockey school is over, A Team coaches should sort out their teams ASAP. Division heads and coaches should meet. There will be a $5 fee for A Team Tryouts (3 nights). Minor Hockey should start ASAP. No ice contracts have been signed yet. Thanksgiving weekend conflicts.
FEMALE HOCKEY LEAGUE NS Minor Hockey is starting a Female Hockey League under the direction of Sheila Williams who will hold a position similar to Marion Dow.
They are requesting names of female hockey players and want to organize teams in the valley at all levels. The plan is to have metro and outside areas like the valley, play in the same league.
This seems to be a parallel league to the one we intend to have. Kentville will have a PeeWee girls team and EKMHA will have a Bantam/Midget girls team. Our coach will be Brian Knowles. Suggestion that Karen Smith help out.
DIVISION HEADS Are in place, thanks to volunteers. Will Brown team will not go ahead, only 16 kids.

CHECKING House leagues will have NO CHECKING at ALL LEVELS. OK for B teams or registered teams to have checking at appropriate levels
BINGO MONEY We anticipate our revenue from Lions Bingo to be less than $300/mo. per Brian. He has been advised that their revenues are down.
FUNDRAISING FOR LIONS Brian advised having been approached by the New Minas Lions to participate in a fundraiser that would operate as a hockey pool on Acadia Axemen Hockey games. He declined and we agreed since we will be a sponsor of the 50/50 Draw.
RESUME George C. read a resume from Terry Billard who is applying for the job of Pee Wee Rep coach. We agreed to persue.
ATOM REP COACH Donnie Connell
CANTEEN SECURITY Fred Stockall has had call outs for the security alarm in the canteen. The existing system is old and needs to be replaced with a TT pad. Cost will be $300. MOTION by Dave Duncan to spend $300 for this expenditure. 2nd Jim M. VOTE=unanimous
FINANCIAL Carrie provided our financial statement. We received a grant from the Town of Wolfville, the Municipality, Bingo, Registration and overdue payments. Many registration were paid in full and that leaves us in a satisfactory financial position to start off the year.
