Meeting was called to order at 7:35 by President Brian Rhodenizer.
There were 7 members present: Cathy Curry, John Curry, Brian Rhodenizer, Tim Ciappara, Dave Duncan, Michelle Duncanson, Carrie Hemmings.
Minutes from the last meeting were read. No errors or omissions were noted and Dave Duncan motioned that they be accepted, Tim Ciappara seconded. Motion carried.
Business from the minutes
To date no more money has come in from the members of the Pee Wee AAA team. Brian had not sent the letter to each parent. He stated that this letter would be sent out by the weekend. Many parents were unaware that money was owing.
Carrie Hemmings has received confirmation from the Town of Wolfville, the Municipality and the Bingo as to amounts to be received. The budget committee will now meet to determine next years budget.
New Business
AA Midget - Will Brown from Kentville made a presentation to the executive concerning a AA Midget program he is interested in running out of the East Kings Association.
John Curry motioned that the EKMHA run a AA Midget program for the 2002-03 season. Dave Duncan seconded. Motion carried.
Coaches - Mike Cochrane and John Curry met last Monday about the coach selection. There are three applications for the head coach position of the AAA Pee Wee team. The coach committee of John Curry, Tim Ciappara, Mike Cochrane and Paul Murphy will meet soon to name this coach. The committee will then present their recommendation to the executive.
This is the last season that coaches will be called to be asked if they are willing to coach in the upcoming season. In the future applications must be submitted to be considered for each position.
Amalgamation - John Curry and Brian Rhodenizer attended another amalgamation meeting. A brochure was produced outlining the pros and cons of amalgamation. They are loooking to have this brochure ready to be distributed at registration time. Then an information session will be held in the fall for the parents and then the vote held in January before playoffs when sour feelings can develop.
Pictou's constitution will be follwed with a few changes to customize to our own needs.
It has been determined that our association does not need to dissolve. We would have to amend our constitution to say the new association would be responsible for the rep teams. We would not be recognized by Hockey Nova Scotia.
50/50 Draw - Kentville has agreed to run a 50/50 draw with us. We would require a representative from our association. Brian has asked Chris Wood to fill this position but as yet has not heard back from him. Volunteers were asked for.
The selling of the tickets is voluntary.
Each week a team would be responsible for the collection of all the tickets and money sold that week, this team would receive a % for this work.
Financial - Carrie Hemmings reported that the municipal grant and bingo cheques have been mailed out to her. The outstanding ice bills from Acadia and Glooscap will be paid when these funds are received. The Town of Wolfville has also approved funding.
Jim Murphy will talk to Acadia in an attempt to receive some type of rebate for the error that has existed in the contracts for the past two seasons.
The next meeting will be held the week of July 22.
Cathy Curry motioned that the meeting be adjourned. John Curry Seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
