Members present: Brian Rhodenizer, Carrie Hemmings, Mary Lou Conrad, John Curry, Jim Murphy, Dave Duncan, Darren Booth, Phil Outerleys, Susan Surette-Draper, Sharon Rand, Robin Foley, Mike Roger.
Meeting commenced at 7:40 pm.
Agenda reviewed. Two items were added to New Business: Canteen and Projected Enrollments.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Old Business
World Junior Tickets had to be purchased by a certain date that has passed. We will have no tickets.
New Business
Bingo - we have had some problems getting people to show up to work. One of the Bantam teams didn't show.
Dance - Brian will contact team managers in the next week or two to remind them to collect items for the silent auction or door prizes. Sharon Rand will arrange for items left at the canteen to be delivered to the dance. Mary Lou C. will organize people to work the door and auction table.
Funding from Wolfville - Carrie wanted consensus as to whether we should go for funding from both Wolfville and Kings County. All agreed we should try to get funding from both parties.
Coaches Clinic - Brian advised that a Level 2 Coaches Clinic would take place January 24 - 25 at a cost of $35.
EVMHL (Eastern Valley Minor Hockey League) - Carrie is currently EK's rep. Position will be vacant this spring. Need new rep. There was discussion about whether these reps should become part of the executives of their respective associations. Currently EVMHL comprises East Kings, West Hants and Kentville. It organizes House League play.
Acadia Costs - we were charged for ice cleaning time on our last bill. Must be investigated. Would make a huge difference in our costs if it is not an error.
Projected enrollments -
Dave calculated, based on current enrollment, how the age change will affect
our registration numbers. It showed that we would be very low in the young age
groups.
Policy Manuay - Dave found there was basically one
standard manual used by many associations. Most associations make changes
applicable to their needs or circumstance.
Canteen - John reported that some teams were not providing workers when scheduled. Should we implement a surcharge to teams that don't work? We decided no. The problem appearred to be communication rather than unwillingness on the part of parents.
Meeting adjourned 8:40 pm.
