Business Arising from Minutes.
The only issue was the AAA coaching review. John Curry reported on the nine questions that the Coaches Committee used as a guideline for interviews with the candidates. The committee was made up of : John Curry, Mike Rogers, Paul Murphy, Tim Chiappara and Mike Cochrane. All were in attendance except Tim who was unavailable suddenly.
The questions dealt with items such as : objectives, concerns, technical issues, dealing with problems on the team and knowledge of the game. These questions were drawn up with the input of Paul Murphy a well qualified East Kings coach. Three candidates were interviewed and the committee unanimously voted to recommend Jack Schofield as the coach of our Pee Wee AAA Team for 2002-2003.
George Curry moved acceptance of the recommendation and Jim Murphy seconded the motion. Some round-table discussion followed in which all in attendance had a chance to voice their questions and/or concerns. A vote followed and the results were Yes : 09 , No :0, Abstain :2. Brian agreed to notify the candidates and thanks to the committee were expressed.
Frank Spicer advised ice times for tryouts for our Pee Wee AAA at Acadia, they are:
It will be the coach's responsibility to advertise tryouts

Brian asked for volunteers for our Registration dates. Susan, Sharon, Cathy, Carrie, Mike and Brian will be there on Friday, Sept 6 from 6-9pm and Cathy, Carrie, Dave and George will be there on Sat Sept 7 from 9am-1pm. Frank and Wendy Spicer will be available for registration for our Bantam/Midget Girls Team and George will help Robin?? with the hockey school registration.
Hope was expressed that our mailing of the forms will make registration faster and more organized. The question was raised as to how lottery tickets would be given to the ones who mail in their registration money. It was decided that Cathy and Carrie would look after getting the tickets delivered by giving them to the team's coach or manager.
Brian advised that there will not be any release of players until we have completed our registration and have a better idea of our numbers.
Some discussion took place on the topic of getting the word out to Novice Age Children of our Initiation fee of $150. for first time hockey players. Brian agreed to contact local schools : Avonport, Port Williams, Gaspereau and Glooscap to advise them of our offer and to ask them to communicate it to that age group of students.
We have been approached by Will Brown to offer a Minor Midget AAA team. There are still many unanswered questions to this undertaking and therefore the consensus was to defer our decision to go ahead with this until after registration, high school tryouts and further discussion with Will.
Division heads were assigned : Novice : Bryan will ask Reg Rand, Atom : still vacant, Pee Wee : George Curry, Bantam & Midget : Mike Rogers. Duties were reviewed, these include : help with sorting out players into teams, equipment concerns, responsible for stats, suspensions etc.
Since the Atom A team has 6 or 7 outstanding sweaters this year and this is a recurring problem. It was decided that a post dated cheque for $50 would be required when the sweaters are handed out and returned when the sweaters are returned. This seems to work for soccer.
It was determined that Midget Team sweaters are required. They are approximately $30/ sweater. It was moved that we would authorize Tim to tender the purchase of 1 set of white, East Kings colours, sweaters. In favour : 11 Opposed : 0.
Cathy asked for volunteers to help with renovations in the Canteen. She would like to be ready to open for Hockey School. She also advised that last year's efforts brought a profit and that Carrie would provide us with a statement at our next meeting.
Meeting adjourned 8:45 pm.
