EKMHA Executive Meeting held December 4, 2001 7:30 pm at Port Williams School.

Members present: Brian Rhodenizer, Carrie Hemmings, Jim Murphy, Cathy Curry, Mike Cochrane, Mary Lou Conrad, Tim Ciappara, George Curry, Dave Duncan, Chris Wood. (Mike Roger and John Curry arrived late)

Meeting commenced at 7:40 pm.

Agenda reviewed.

Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.

Business arising from the minutes

Brian did get information requested from the AAA Pee Wee team. Tryout fees collected covered the cost of the ice only. there was no EKMHA bank account set up but Brian did receive detailed financial accounting. The team is and will continue fundraising and try to get sponsors for Jerseys. EKMHA received a bill for both sets of jerseys. We will pay for both and recoup amount for second set from the AAA team.

New Business

Refunds

There is no set policy regarding refunds. One player withdrew December 1. What should refund be? Pro-rated?

Two girls didn't register or pay the required $40 fundraising fee. Brian will send letters requesting this payment.

Policy & Procedures Manual Project

Brian asked for volunteers to develop this manual. Hope to get rough draft by April. Need to develop a "living policy". Dave D. agreed to investigate and evaluate existing manuals from other organization. Dave will spearhead this project.

Player Selection Process

Brian has begun selecting a group to develop an "across the board" method for each team to use during player selection. The method will include a formula for evaluating skills, attitude, coachability, etc. Thus far, Paul Murphy, Peter Baldwin and Reg Rand are willing to participate.

• Review of per team/level revenue & expenses
• Tim asked if anyone had any news regarding our World Junior Hockey Tickets. Kentville is advertising their's already.
• Chris W. asked why the photo gallery was removed from the EKMHA website. Mary Lou reported that due to space limitations, there was no longer room to include the photos on the site. Jim indicated that more space may be available if the provider is approached.
• Cathy C. mentioned that someone had mentioned to her that it was not appropriate for minutes to be posted before they are approved. Mary Lou indicated the minutes are marked "not approved" and felt there was no cause for concern.
• Jim M. passed on word that Darren Burns, coach of the Acadia Axemen, was interested in improving a liaison with minor hockey and his players for instruction, etc.
• John C. informed group of a fundraising venture in Cape Breton. They sell weekly 50/50 tickets allowing for a generous prize to the winner.
