The Warwick Raiders are set for their second trip to the Eastern Region Soccer Championships in three seasons as first year coach Chris Williams directed them to a 3-0 thrashing of Bethel in the Peninsula District Final at Gloucester High School.

In the girls final, the Gloucester Dukes completed a two-year sweep of the Peninsula by claiming a 1-0 victory over the Denbigh Patriots.

Semifinal competition continued on the Southside, beginning with the Beach District who completed the bottom half of both their boys and girls brackets.  The First Colonial Patriots punched their ticket to Powhatan with a 99th minute rebound goal by Nicole Abuhamad as they knocked off the third-seeded Kellam Knights 1-0 in four overtimes.

In the boys semifinal at Ocean Lakes, the host and sixth-seeded Dolphins saw their season extended at least one more day, holding off a furious second rally by #2 Princess Anne following a 46th minute penalty kick goal allowance to Jake Corliss to win 2-1.

The winner of the Landstown/Ocean Lakes boys final tomorrow night will claim their school's first ever Beach District Tournament championship.  Ocean Lakes is making its first appearance in this match since 2003 when they fell 2-0 to Kempsville, while Landstown, the 2006 Beach District Regular Season and Eastern Region Champions, are making their first title game showing.

The Southeastern District boys semifinals were also wild as Western Branch bumped Oscar Smith 3-0 weeks after the Tigers thumped the Bruins 4-0 during the regular season.
Western Branch earns a berth to regionals as Hickory avenged its lone Southeastern loss in the nightcap, defeating Grassfield 4-3 in overtime.  After seeing their 1-0 halftime advantage evaporate, the Hawks recovered and forced overtime where Ryan Lipps scored the match winner in the first overtime period.
