Biographical Notes
Meryl Motika fell in love with the harp as a child after trying one at a Welsh National Eisteddfod. Her studies with Welsh and American harpists have given her a powerful, clean style of playing, allowing her to be easily heard in band and orchestral parts and giving definition to her contemporary music as well as bringing out the lush chords and glissandi of more traditional music. Ms. Motika is also competent in arranging music for the harp, having studied and practiced composition throughout her career.
Ms. Motika's experience includes performances of with members of the Pomona College Glee Club and the Bay Area's Festival Chorus, solos and candenza with the Pomona College Orchestra, the College Band Directors' National Association Intercollegite Band and the National Orchestra of Ecuador, a recital of baroque music for the Samuel Johnston Society in Los Angeles, and a variety of chamber and background music appearances.
Ms. Motika lives in Berkeley, California.
