These bouncy little things give you extra time to complete a level, and they are absolutely crucial later on in the game. The number of jelly beans distribued in these later levels is often exactly the right amount to make it a tight finish, so don't think that just because there's lots of them on a level that there'll be plenty of time because this is often not the case. Jelly beans restore one colour block of your time, but you cannot have more time than you started with so try not to collect jelly beans when your time is in the white area to avoid wasting them. Each jelly bean is worth 64 points.
