| One of the first things I knew I needed was a basket. It would let me carry things like groceries. A friend at work gave me a frozen chicken. I put it in my basket to carry home that afternoon. I ride down a busy road, usually sticking to the sidewalk, but I still have to cross a busy highway intersection. On this day I got out into the intersection and my bike tire hit a bump. The chicken flew from the basket like it had grown wings. Had it been thawed, it would have landed with a plop in the road. Not this frozen little bird! It went spinning wildly in the road and bounced off the tire of a car parked at the light. I put the kickstand down and left the bike in the middle of the road while i snatched the chicken and ran quickly back to the bike. By the time I got to the other side of the road, I was laughing so hard I had to stop and catch my breath. I smiled all the way home that day! |
