The Faerie Abduction of the Lias Laddie

The tears of sadness are still not dry,
The twinkle has faded from his father's eye.
And, oh, how his heart breaks anew each day
Because the Faeries carried his precious boy away.

He was, I imagine, quite guarded in his infancy,
The mark of the lias hidden very carefully
He grew into a boy of youthful cares and tender years
Without maturity to foresee his folly in the shadows of his fears

It had to be the Faeries, who'd been biding their time
And caught up with him, finally, near the River Tyne.
He was just... there one moment... and then he wasn't.
And still they wait for him to come home and he doesn't.

There was a rumor round the Angels did it
And the whole tragic business was just his kismet.
Snatched away, he was, that we know for sure,
His attentions snared by some fabulous faerie lure.

It wasn't just the child they stole
The poetry was ripped from his father's soul.
They left tears and emptiness behind, and took the joy
When the Fae-Ones made off with that little boy.

Faeries, Sirens, The Fates, God... call it whatever you will,
There's no remedy, no return, just life's unbearably bitter pill.
The faeries must have done it because its just so WRONG,
That the world mourns and Little Adam Knoxy is gone.
