Awkward Girl

alone in her tower
high above her peers
she stares into the unset
and stuffs the anger down
into the dark
where it can't be seen
except in her eyes
she's different from the others
her thoughts emit dark flames
for God must surely hate her
to create her so grotesque
she's standing too close to the mirror
to see what's raging in her heart
from the fire of resentment
the smoldering of shame
tempered with her kindness
within her sensitive soul
in the oven of despair
is formed a character of steel
and a shining inner grace

Circling Space

circling space
in an eccliptical orbit
a different dance
for each section of the journey
childhood slips by regretting
youth is almost past
I struggle to learn
my new dance
Contrary

Who the hell are you?
the statue seems to say
seems to be the question of the year
I'm changing coats now
you can call me contrary again
the tides have shifted
back to a darkening gray
kissing deserts goodbye
I search for homes of
disinfected white wood
with room to care for
all my fallen angels
in quilted rooms of silence
tomorrow I'll search
for mossy caves by firelight
or boxes on steel cliffs
I dust off the outstretched
hands of painted resin
pull up my hood and venture out
to spy on the world with changing eyes
Bone Tired

bone tired
she searches crimson halls
seeking reassurance
in the mirrors of chaos
she glides through despair
falls through bliss
untouched
her heroines are dressed
in the garb of prostitutes now
her heroes all graying
their swords broken and rusty
her limbs grow heavy
her heart is lead
her mind sleeps
her sleep of dreams
dreams of childish laughter
Evil Again

was I evil again today?
I'm sorry, sometimes
the sunshine just gets in the way
I never meant to turn out this way
sometimes the die slips a bit
that's okay
I don't mind too much
life's an adventure
and I'm on a roll
I've got a driving need
to peek into every dark corner
to draw treasures into the light
thn return them to the deep
you just want me to feel guilty
because I was evil again today
