Earth-In-A-Can Stuff: Poetry (2001)

The following are two short poems I wrote in about May, 2001. I don't usually write poetry, but I was taking a writing class, so I was forced to do it.

Terra Australis

At the centre of her, there is nothing.
She is an abandoned ghost town
that people still speak of
hear of
dream of

Her emptiness is as beautiful
As the sandy hair
And the deep blue eyes
That draw most to her

Some see her nothing
And are drawn to it
At the centre of her, there is everything.

Home

A thousand worlds or miles
Strange and exotic lands draw me
Towards them, toward me
What I know and what I feel
Is to take myself to a place

There are no sunny beaches
There are no warm winters
Only the part of home
That is no longer at home
There are no six beers at Five o'clock Friday after work
Only the part of me that I still miss.
