Earth-In-A-Can Album: Australia
I was born in Australia back in the late, late, late seventies, and have lived here for most of my life. The exceptions have been a sum of about twelve weeks, where I've been abroad in some country or another.
While I've not seen as much of this country as I'd like to have seen, I've seen a lot of beautiful sights, some of which may be surprising to those who think they know Australia well. Most of the photos here will be of a block of land my parents own down the south coast of New South Wales.
The Block at Bega
About six hours down from where we live outside Sydney, down toward Bega, and a little to the right, is a small area called Numbugga. It's not easy to find it on any map, and contrary to what my dad tells everyone, it's not aboriginal for "bloody freezing cold".
Victoria: Hell if you're Itsy Bitsy Spider
Well, that's not exactly true. If you happened to be Itsy Bitsy Spider, the last place you'd want to be isn't exactly Victoria, but the capital of Victoria. Melbourne. I haven't made it down that far yet, but did manage to go to a few other places.
I guess that's a school camp for you. Oh yeah, this was meant to be educational, so we went to see where bushrangers were hung, a themepark that recreates the experience of the goldrush by making you pan for gold and find nothing, and of course, act like total fools on the final night.
Sydney: Capital of Australia New South Wales
New South Wales, like Victoria, is a state. The two states have a really silly rivalry, that doesn't really matter to you, as you're here to look at photos. I've not got too many of Sydney, but that may change in the future. It isn't often you suddenly decide, "oh, I might photograph something I see every day." Unless you're a stalker, that is.
