Thanks to Kat, we now have the further illustratoin of the Story where Rief and litle Cain met, why Cain inherited the Earl title, and what happened to Aleix, etc. The following illustration is written by Kat. Young Cain is reading a book in the garden when he saw his mother acting strange. She tells Cain that she became like this because of Cain and if only he wasn't born. She then raises a scythe to kill Cain. Blood comes out of her mouth then she dies in front of a frightened Cain. Alexial comes and comforts him as he hugs Cain. Alexial says to the crying Cain, "It is alright....Cain...forget about it...this is just a bad dream!

Forget it!
Cain....this...this...."

Seven years have passed. Lief asks if the picture of the woman in the locket is Alexial's wife. Alexial says that it is of his sister, Christine and that his wife has passed away seven years ago. Lief apologizes. Aleialx then tells Lief that it is good that he has come and that he did what is in Lief's father's will. Lief thanked him for helping. Alexial then tells him that he has an important thing to tell him about his son, Cain. Cain is already 12 years old and is a bit strange. Alexial doesn't want other people to see Cain and if Lief sees him, he shouldn't talk with Cain. Lief is puzzled.

Fate has other plans.
In the garden, Lief is reading when he heard some noises.

He follows the noise and finds a young boy who seems to be burying something. Lief is surprised that the boy is crying. The boy notices him and asks who he is. Lief asks him what is he doing this late at night. Lief notices that the color of the boy's eyes are gold with a tint of green. Cain tells him that the little bird has died so he was just making a tomb for it. Cain grabs Lief's tie asking why is he staring at this eyes, are they strange? Cain then asks what kind of book is Lief holding. Lief says it is a medical book, he is a medical student but since his family is bankrupted he has to stop school so he just self-study. Cain asks Lief if he can see him. Lief is puzzled then quickly catches Cain who has fainted.

Lief asks him what is wrong as he wonders if this is Cain whom Alexial says is a bit strange. Then, Lief notices that his hand has blood. It is from Cain's back. Alexial then arrives at the scene just as Cain is conscious again. Alexial is surprised to see Lief with Cain. Alexial says that now that Lief saw Cain's wounds, he cannot do anything about it, he has to be Cain's servant and orders Lief to come. Alexial then grabs Cain scolding him that he has told him many times. Cain apologizes to his father.

Lief is shocked to see Alexial whipping Cain as Aliex tells Cain that he doesn't like doing this but he is doing it just for Cain so that he will be free of sin. Cain in pain agrees with his father. Alexial then tells Lief to take Cain away. Lief glances back to see Alexial lighting his pipe and looks at the picture of Christine.

As Lief puts some ointment on Cain's wounds, he notices that the wounds on Cain's back are not all new, it seems that Cain has been whipped every night. Cain tells him that it is his fault and he shouldn't have run outside. Cain defends his father, "Do not be mistaken, my father loves me very much. Before when mother ate poison to commit suicide, almost tried to kill me but father for the first time, hugged me and told me that it is alright, forget it. It is so that I may learn how to be an Earl. Surely, that is why!" Lief agrees but thinks what is going on, what kind of life is this.

Lief narrates, from then on, I learned of Cain's strange lifestyle and what
Cain meant when he asks if he can see him, only relatives and tutors can talk with him other than them, no one else is allowed, they all pretend not to see him.

Cain tells Lief that he already fired the old tutor because the tutor says that it one's color of eyes cannot change into gold and if they did, it could mean one is a product of incest. Cain comments that he hates what the tutor have said. Lief asks if he wants to put in sugar since Cain is playing with the sugar cubes. Cain declines. Lief says that Cain's face doesn't look good and he should eat more or he might faint again. Cain says that is now alright, he used to have a bird but didn't notice when it died but he no longer need a pet. Cain smiles then continues that it is because of Lief, he is now in his cage. Lief is surprised by what Cain said.

Cain then asks Lief to follow him to the basement to show him something and that his father doesn't know this place.

Cain then shows him his ancestors' collection of poison. Lief notices a picture falling from Cain's pocket. Cain tells him that it is aunt Christine, he stole the picture from his father's room and she used to be a black haired beauty. Lief asks if she is dead since he said 'used to.' Cain tells that he saw her before, the beautiful black hair has became white.

Flashback....
A person introduced Cain to his aunt Christine. Christine smiled sweetly and asked him to come to her. Cain notices that her hand is white as snow. Christine hugs him tenderly then she starts muttering where the black feather has gone to, Cain's eyes are different and if he came to kill her. Cain is frightened. Christine then started calling Cain a monster and asked him not to come near her.

Cain says that it seems to be a hospital and she has became crazy ten years
ago. Lief asks why he has her picture. Cain replies that it is because his mother's death is very scary and when aunt Christine hugged him, he felt the hug was like a mother's. Cain tells Lief that he wanted to see aunt Christine again but his father forbid it.

Alexial, carrying a whip, then finds them. He tells Cain that he told him not to go here. Alexial scolds at Lief as to what kind of servant he is and raises the whip. Lief instinctively tried to protect himself and was surprised that Cain comes between them. Even Alexial is surprised. Cain holds his wound and tells Aliex not to hurt his servant. Alexial then tells Cain to go as he has something to tell Lief. Alexial smokes his pipe and tells Lief that it is the first time that Cain protected someone and that Lief should be with Cain always. Lief is relieved. Alexial then says if the time of separation comes, it will hurt Cain deeply just like that little bird. Lief is shocked by what he heard. He then remembers that every time Alexial whips Cain, he smokes his pipe and has this smile. Lief in shock learns that Alexial truly hates Cain. Don't want him to study in school, separate him from other people and Alexial could be the one who have killed the bird. Every night, beating that small back while Cain believing that his father loved him.

Lief then notices that Cain has been using his microscope to study the sugar tubes and that there is poison in them. Lief tells him that Alexial has been putting poison in the sugar so Cain's health has been affected. Cain cries as he denies it, claiming that his father would not think of killing him. Then, Cain hugging Lief says that he wants to see Aunt Christine who is like a mother to him.

The maid tells Christine that she has a visitor. After seeing Cain who seems to look like Alexial, Christine started to shout at Cain as Alexial and asked him not to come near her, God must have not forgiven her. The maid tries to call Christine who is running away.

Flashback....
"Sister! I love you!! " Alexial said. Christine is cornered by Alexial. Christine asked him to let her go and do not do this stupid thing. Alexial said that he loves her and she is the only one. Someone then arrives at the room looking for Christine and drops the vase to find Christine naked. Christine then gives birth to Cain as she kept on shouting that she doesn't want to give birth and may God forgive her.

Cain calls his aunt but Christine keeps on moving away, asking Alexial not to hurt her anymore and not to come near her. Christine then runs through the window and falls down. Christine wakes up and asks if he is Cain. Cain kneels near her. She then tells him that he is a pitiful child, trying to escape his father....she has died, he will not forgive you. He likes to fight, hurt and be satisfied. She closes her eyes and says,

Cain, do not lose like me....my child...Cain...!

Cain is shocked and remembers the time when his mother dies, his father said something. Alexial says, "It is alright...Cain, it is just a bad dream. Forget it, Cain... This is better, you can live longer." Cain then realizes that his father really hates him because after giving birth to him, she went crazy so father hates him ever since he was born. Cain then tells Lief that he wants to go home. Meanwhile, Alexial learns of his sister's death and that Cain was with her at that time. He was very distressed by the news.

Cain arrives home and sees his father preparing some tea to calm Cain down. Cain asks if he was angry because he went to visit aunt Christine. Alexial denies being angry and that it is nice that Christine have someone near her when she died. Cain then says that he is very stupid because he thought his father would hate him for it and apologizes. Alexial says how could he hate his own son and asks Cain to quickly drink the tea. Cain drinks the tea as Alexial says right...how can I hate you... The tea cup drops and Cain falls on the floor.

While smoking his pipe, Alexial says he hates Cain to the point of wanting to kill him....he never listens to him. The only person he loves is his sister Christine but she went crazy after giving birth to Cain so the family made him marry his wife to cover up what really happened. Because of Cain, he has to be with a stupid woman whom he doesn't love. When he poisoned her, she wanted to kill Cain.

Cain then says,
"Father, I remember it clearly..Does it smell nice? Father."

Alexial is surprised that Cain is alive. Cain says that he put in rose scent in the sugar with the poison so if the tea smells of rose, he would know who is trying to poison him. Then, Lief enters. Alexial pulls out a gun and points it to Lief then tells Cain that he will give him a taste of what he felt when Christine died. Cain is surprised but suddenly, Alexial drops the gun and coughs out blood. He learns that he was poisoned. Cain says that he notices that Alexial always smokes his pipe if he did something to him so he would surely smoke his pipe when he dies. Lief realizes that Cain had put poison in Alexial's pipe. Aliex then threatens Cain that he will never be happy...you cannot find love...you will die alone...do not forget...Cain...is the the name of the first person who killed his relative. Look! You cannot kill me! Look! Alexial then jumps from the balcony into the sea below as Lief shouts for him.

Cain feels hurt and the wound has opened again . Cain says that he is not afraid of being alone because ever since before, he was alone. As Cain cries, he says that he will never cry again, this will be the last time. Lief then says that he will be with him and this is his decision. Lief tells Cain to let him comfort him. Lief then hugs the crying Cain, hoping that he will not be hurt this way again.

Lief narrates, time passes, Alexial could not be found and Cain has became the new Earl. Like the wounds in Cain's heart, the wounds on his back has never disappeared but ever since Merryweather came, this house has became more lively.

Merryweather then calls for her brother and shows him a flower wreath. Cain
asks if girls really like these kind of things. Merryweather then tells Lief that she will tell him his fortune and that she is used to make a living from telling fortunes. Lief says she doesn't need to bother because his destiny is to be with Cain. Merryweather smiles then says that he is great and he will be very happy. Merryweather kisses him on the cheek and runs off. Lief shouts at her that she has left a card. Lief opens the card and is shocked to find what's in the card but the wind blows it away.

While looking at Merryweather teasing Cain with the wreath, Lief thinks,
if it can be like this forever it would be great...forever like this...there will be no hurtful things....
