There was A Crooked Man

THERE WAS A
CROOKED MAN

There was a crooked man,
And he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked stile.
Beside a crooked stile,
He bought a crooked cat,
Which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together
In a little crooked house.

The background music playing is "Three was a Crooked Man" - sing along now!

One scholar believes that the "crooked man" was General Sir Alexander Leslie of Scotland; the "crooked sixpence" referred to Charles I (1600-49); the "crooked stile" was the border between England and Scotland; and the "little crooked house" , the countries' uneasy union at that time.

This ryhime is applied in Earl Cain's 'The Little Crooked House'. Click here to read the story (under construction)
