A
British young nobleman. The son of Earl Alexis and his blooded sister. Inherited
his father's "Earl" title after his mysterious disappearance. Cain's eyes colour
is between sparkling green and golden as a result of incest. (it seems that
Cain dislikes people noticing his unique eye colour - especially when he was
a child). His father named him Cain (the name of the first
murder of the mankind) as he hates his own son so much that he believes
Cain is evil and cursed. To lessen his sorrows, Cain starts collecting poisons
which earned him the name of "Poison Earl Cain" - the poison buff. His rich
knowledge on poisons helps him tackle lots of mysterious cases around him.

It says that Cain is the 14th head of the family, so by assuming one head last
for about 60-70 years,the Hargreaves family has last for 900 yrs.Also the story
setting is at about 1870-
99,socain's family exists in 960AD. The first group of British noblemans was
found at that time,so Cain's ancestor should be one of those nobleman. (In reality,there
is also a nobleman family called Hargreaves from those nobleman and this family
still exist now.) And Cain's family was given the gift 'White Llily' in 'Black
Sheep' for war contribution, it may represent the war in
10th century.Thus Hargreaves family is a strong and powerful family in the first
class society.

The loyal butler of the
Hargreaves. Nick name is 'Riff'. Very tall and strong. Absolutely obedience to his master - Cain Hargreaves. Once a medical student of a middle-class family. Because of a mysterious
fire, all his family were dead. For the help of Alexis Hargreaves, Riff works
for the Hargreaves and his destiny and fate is then linked to his young master
Cain's. He loves and takes care of Cain as his own blooded younger brother.
I think his young master Cain does like and count on him very much that he once
said ," Riff, I no longer need any pets as you are now in my birdcage!".....
"Riff, if you betray me, I will kill myself" ... Oops, those lines really killing me and I think Cain is very clever and knows how to chained Lief's heart! A scar is embedded on Rifff's right wrist as a result of his failure committed
suicide. Rumors said that it was Riff himself who started the fire?!
Among all the characters in "Earl Cain", I adore and appreciate Riff the most
as he not only looks handsome and elegant, he cares his master very much - a
devoted, reliable and respectable manor! Do you love Riff too?!

He obsessed his blooded elder sister who gave birth a son - Cain to him. He
hates Cain very much that he planned to poison him dead. The failure of his
killing plan made him leave the House of Hargreaves. He then became the master
of a secret society: Deliah.
Dr. Jezabel Disreali
A young, talented surgeon,
disguised himself as the family doctor of Hargreaves. De facto, he is the adopted,
obedience son of Alexis Hargreaves. The existence of Cain makes him thinks
that he is only the second best in Alexial's eyes. His manic jealousy of Cain
drives him to kill Cain as the aim of his life.

daughter of Alexis Hargeaves and a chambermaid. Cain's half-sister. Once wandered
the streets as a fortune teller. Cain adopted her that lights up her life. She
is a lovely, talkative, energetic young girl.
The Above 5 leading characters are the key characters in "Earl Cain". New, bold characters also appear in different "Earl Cain"'s stories. And yet, it seems that those new characters all don't have a happy ending >_<.. No wonder Ms. Kaori Yuki has to create new characters in each new story! After all, leading characters won't and shouldn't die so easily, right?! Long Life Riff and Cain! heeeeeee..
