The Kiss

The emotion was astounding

Butterflies inside of thee

Moving closer heart is pounding

Insecurities set me free

Dying with anticipation

What awaits you’re sure to love

Nerves granted emancipation

Fireworks in skies above

Getting closer to the kiss

Toughest are the things at first

Seeking, hoping both feel bliss

Pulsing veins nearing burst

Inching, inching ever closer

Waiting for the start to end

Slow ahead, not a bulldozer

Making sure the signals send

Approaching them like a stalker

Closer still, closer yet

Careful as a tightrope walker

Crossing without a safety net

Finally the moment’s here

Time at last to meet their touch

Despite your qualms, despite your fear

Plain desire pushes too much

Mere seconds that last forever

Are completely gone for good

Hesitance with now or never

Appears foolish but understood

Once the lips join nothings better

Lack of moistness, don’t despair

Warming up, becoming wetter

Early tensions left from there

Without words just like a mime

Certain that this is the best

Memories will last a lifetime

Later on, no sleep, no rest

Skipping about you’re on cloud nine

Hopeful future leaves you smitten

All eternity looks to be fine

By the bug you have been bitten
