My life in India, 2005-2006

8/19/05

Tonight the Baha’is of Bangalore, along with the rest of the Baha’i community around the world, came together for the Feast of Asma. I feel very lucky that Feast rolled around so quickly after my arrival here. The best thing about being a Baha’i, I have realized, is that in any country in the world you are warmly received by at least one group of people. I also learned that the Baha’is here aren’t so much different from the ones in the U.S. They sometimes sing out of tune, they grow restless if consultation goes on too long, and they love to socialize. They constitute my surrogate family while I am gone.

Not much else exciting happened today. Once again I almost peed myself traveling on Bangalore’s roads. I used mostly autos today (three wheel automobile-rickshaws) and took a couple photos from the back seat, including one of a family of four traveling on a single motor bike.
