Harry had been back at the Dursley's for two days when he received an owl telling him that Sirius's funeral, or more accurately memorial service, as no body had ever been recovered would be held in three days time. The owl was from Arthur Weasley, who seemed to have taken it upon himself to inform Harry of the events, which the owl continued, were being organized by Remus Lupin, as the only member of the Hogwarts foursome left, decided that the burden fell on his shoulders.
Since Moody and Co had had words with the Dursley’s at the station, they pretty much ignored Harry, and that was putting it lightly, avoided like the plague was nearer to the mark, and frankly Harry couldn't care less. When he informed them he was going to the funeral, Aunt Petunia just nodded and Uncle Vernon just enquired when he was planning on coming home and grunted that he could find his own way there and back, as they weren’t going to be inconvenienced by driving him around London all day.
The day of the funeral arrived and at 9. O’clock Harry went next door to Mrs Figg's house, as he had been instructed to do by Mr Weasley. Mrs Figg gave Harry a set of funeral robes, which he heard had been picked out and dropped off by Dumbledore the day before. They were made out of black material, long sleeved and high necked with a matching set of plain black gloves, which Mrs Figg informed him was traditional to be worn to a wizarding funeral. After he had changed he said thank you to Mrs Figg, although he felt awkward, feeling indebted to this witch, whom he hardly knew. He took a handful of floo powder from the terracotta pot on top of the mantelpiece and threw it into the fire. He then stepped into the fireplace and stated his destination “The Leaky Cauldron.” Then came the, now familiar, spinning, dizzy feeling that Harry associated with traveling by floo, then he found himself in the fireplace of the Leaky cauldron.
The pub was full of witches and wizards, most of which Harry recognized as various members of the order. Bill Weasley was talking in a corner with Ginny and Hermione; both girls had red eyes, and looked as if they had been crying recently. Mr and Mrs Weasley were sitting at a table, with Dumbledore, McGonagall, Hagrid and Tonks. Mad eyed Moody was standing by the front door ready to attack anyone who came through. Fred and George were sitting on the stairs with a thin red haired witch, who Harry didn't recognize. The three of them weren't talking, they were just sitting quietly. Harry saw Charlie Weasley walk over to the three of them and pull the girl into a tight embrace.
Just at that moment Lupin, who had been standing on the fringes of the party noticed Harry standing in the corner. He came over to Harry and pulled him into a tight hug "How you holding in there Harry?" his voice was tired, and when Harry looked at his face it was almost grey and there was a dead look in his eyes.
"I'm ok" Harry managed "How are you?"
"I thought when your parents died that I had buried too many of my best friends. Losing Sirius just brings it all back.”
"You arranged my parent's funerals?" Harry asked surprised.
"There was nobody else to do it.” Lupin replied sadly. “God knows I didn't want to but when your parents died, your only relatives didn't want anything to do with them and Sirius was in Azkaban and there was nobody else to do it. It’s the same case all over again with Sirius, there just isn’t anybody else to take the responsibility.”
"Where were they buried?" Harry asked, a single tear trickling down his cheek.
"In the cemetery where the service is held today" replied Lupin. "We decided to place Sirius next to them, we figured that they would like to all be together, in the end."
Harry moved over to the window and stared out, looking down on Diagon Alley, all the wizards and witches going about their daily business like nothing had happened. Well not exactly, they all had a slightly more nervous look in their eyes.
"Come on now Harry" A warm familiar sounding voice was behind him, when Harry turned around Mrs Weasley pulled him into her arms, "It's time to go."
The group walked down to the very bottom of Diagon ally, past Gringotts, Flourish and Blotts, and Ollivanders, to a part of the street that Harry had never been to before, the whole time Mrs Weasley held onto Harry's arm protectively. They then proceeded through a small archway and Harry found himself in a huge open field, but on closer inspection it was full of graves, as far as the eye could see in every direction. He leant over and whispered into Mrs Weasley’s ear “Where are we?”
She answered her voice hushed, “These are the fields of Elysium, where we bury our own” and squeezed his arm affectionately.
Lupin lead the way through the mounds of headstones to where Sirius's tombstone lay, it was small and undecorated and simply said ‘Sirius Black, Loyal Friend’, but although there was a tombstone, Harry noticed that there was no grave. People started to crowd round, and Harry found himself standing between Hermione, who reached out and gave his hand a squeeze, and Harry smiled wanly back at her, and Dumbledore, who merely patted Harry on the shoulder. The red haired witch was standing behind Harry and a little to the left, holding onto Charlie's hand tightly. She was wearing a knee length black dress with black heeled boots, with black robes over the top. Her hair was pinned back, which gave the impression that she looked a lot older than she actually was.
Lupin cleared his throat and started in his hoarse voice "We have gathered here today to pay our respects to Sirius Black, friend, protector and godfather. I had the honour of calling Sirius one of my best friends, he was a good man, and loyal to a fault, so loyal that he laid down his life fighting to protect all of us present today. I know Sirius wouldn't want us to mourn his death, he would want us all to remember his life and the joy he gave us, mainly through the many, completely inappropriate jokes he seemed to play on us on a daily basis" A few smiles went through the crowd, as people remembered the times when they had been part of, or the victim of one of Sirius's pranks. "Tragically Sirius was cut out of our lives twice, once when he was wrongfully imprisoned and when we thought we had him back he was taken from us again." At this point Lupin was cut off by a sob and could no longer continue.
The red haired witch walked over to Lupin and put her arms around him, and he broke down, sobs wracking his entire body. The witch seemed to have lost the small thread of composure that she had and was now weeping into Lupin's chest. Harry could hear her whispering.
"My God Remus he's really gone isn't he?"
Harry, unable to watch any more, went to stand with Fred and George.
"Who's that girl?" Harry asked curiously
"That's, Meissa, Charlie's fiancée" replied George "They've been engaged for three months and they never told anybody, mum could have killed him for not telling her."
"Just don't mention the words engagement, wedding or brides around her, otherwise she'll start trying to organize your wedding as well" Fred added.
Harry chuckled. "So why didn't they say anything sooner?"
"Charlie just said that the right time just hadn't come up, with everything that had been happening and all"
"But with her coming to stay, for the funeral he had to say something."
"I didn't realize Charlie knew Sirius that well" Harry commented,
"He didn't" answered George.
"But why did he come to the funeral then?"
"Well" continued Fred "her name is Meissa Black, she's Sirius's half sister."
"I didn't know that Sirius had a half sister" said Harry, who was pretty shocked that Sirius hadn't told him, he remembered the day when they had been looking at the Black family tapestry, Sirius had told him about his death eater brother, but neglected to mention his sister
"It's not a fact that he or his family liked to advertise" Said George quietly.
“Oh” Harry replied quietly as he wandered off to the side, nearer to Sirius’ tombstone, but it was the grave next to Sirius’ that caught his eye.

His parent’s graves. Although at the back of his mind he had always known that they were there somewhere, he had never asked to see them.
“They were good people.” A familiar voice spoke behind him and he felt a firm hand on his shoulder. Harry looked up to see Dumbledore standing next to him. “It is one of my biggest regrets Harry, that you have never known your parents, and that they have never known you.”
“I didn’t know that they were buried here” Harry choked out, as Mrs Weasley came over to inform him that they were all going back to the Burrow now if he wanted to come. Harry smiled wanly and followed the Weasleys.
Harry never got to see Meissa on the way to the Burrow, but she soon reappeared, wearing a pair of jeans and a tight faded maroon T shirt with Krum written on the back in large white letters. Her hair had been let down which made her look a lot younger than she had at the funeral. Just underneath her shoulder, on her left arm, there was a large patch of red skin, which looked like she’d been burnt. She was sitting like before on the stairs watching people walk past.
Harry went over to her and asked “What happened to your arm?”
“Dragon fire, went through my jacket, could have been worse though.” She stared at him “So your James and Lily’s son?” without waiting for Harry to answer she continued, “You look like your father, but..”
“But I have my mother’s eyes?” Harry continued for her
“Get that a lot do ya?” she smiled at Harry.
“Pretty much” Harry smiled back, feeling strangely relaxed. “I didn’t know that Sirius had a sister, he never mentioned it.”
Meissa’s smile faltered, “I guess that’s because you didn’t spend a huge amount of time together, he probably would have brought it up eventually.” She said bitterly “I wasn’t a huge family secret to him, it’s just that I hadn’t seen him for years.”
“I’m sorry “said Harry, “When was the last time you saw him?”
“The day before he went to Azkaban, I wasn’t allowed to see him after that.”
“Were you close?”
“He took care of me after my mother died. She was killed by an Auror.”
Their conversation was broken off by the arrival of Lupin, who had also changed into more casual clothing. He took Meissa’s hand in his own and gave it a little squeeze “How are you feeling now sweetheart?” he asked gently. She squeezed his hand back reassuringly “I’m hanging in there, how about you?”
“I’ll be fine. Are you going back to Grimmauld Place tonight? Or are you staying here?”
“I think I’m going to go back, I have to sometime, and that house elf needs dealing with ASAP.”
“Do you want me to come back with you? You shouldn’t be alone tonight.”
“You don’t mind?”
“No, well then that’s settled.” He then wandered back into the sitting room and began talking to Tonks, who looked over his shoulder and waved to Meissa.
“I don’t think Remus should be on his own tonight either, your parent’s death hit him hard, but he seems so much worse last time.”
Harry wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer to the next question, but somehow he just couldn’t stop himself from asking “Did you know my parents?” For a time Meriel just stared at him, unable to find words, but then she began talking slowly.
“My father was Sirius’s father as well. My mother died when I was 4 years old, about a year before you were born.”
“Did you say she was killed by Aurors?” Harry asked, surprised by the information that he had heard.
“Yes, she was a death eater. Not that I really remember her that well. She was fairly high in you-know-who’s ranks though.” She paused before carrying on with her story “On her death my father was asked if he would take me in, Sirius’s mother refused point blank to even acknowledge my existence. So Sirius took me, there was nobody else. I think he did it partly to take care of me, and partly to spite his mother. He was only 20 at the time, and I think that he was simply too young to take on the responsibility.”
Meissa smiled for a second “He did his best for me though. Your mother took it upon herself to ensure that I was looked after properly, we were very close, I used to go round to your parents house nearly every day, I even had my own room there, then when you were born a year later they had to go into hiding, I still saw them but less frequently. I was very fond of you as a child, you were like my baby brother, until they were found by He-Who- Must-Not-Be-Named.”
“What happened to you after that?”
“After your parents were killed Sirius left me at Remus’, before going to confront Pettigrew.” Harry shuddered at the name of the man who had caused the death of his parents. Meissa paused seeing his reaction then continued “Sirius was sentenced to Azkaban, and I was allowed to see him just before he was shipped away. After that I stayed with Remus for a few weeks, then Dumbledore organized a foster home for me to live in, Remus argued of course, he wanted me to stay with him. But Dumbledore said no, for various reasons. He said that Remus was too young for the burden of a child and that I needed a stable family environment. So I went to live with a childless couple, who treated me like their own child, but I still saw Remus nearly every week.”
Meissa finished and smiled uncertainly at Harry, who looked at her, then smiled back. “The boys and Ginny were planning to come to Romania for a visit next week, if you’re not busy why don’t you and Hermione come along. I heard that you don’t particularly like your Aunt and Uncle, so it’d save you going home for the rest of the holidays.”
Harry beamed, no more Dursleys and a trip to Romania, “That’d be cool!” he smiled at Meissa enthusiastically. She got up and wandered over to where Charlie and Bill were sitting, talking to Fred and George, Harry followed hesitantly “Harry’s coming to stay next week as well she announced, and Hermione too if she wants to come, Fred be a dear and go and ask her for me.”
Charlie glanced up at her and nodded his approval, then turned to Bill “Is Fleur coming?”
Bill shook his head “Nope, she couldn’t get the time off”
Fred reappeared at the table, “Hermione’s in, budge up George so Meissa and Harry can sit down.”
Harry eyed the twins suspiciously, they were never this nice unless they were up to something, he voiced his concerns quietly to Meissa, whispering in her ear. Meissa burst out laughing. Then turned and explained, “Oh Fred and George are on their best behaviour. My last boyfriend was the son of Liam Zonko. Well as we parted on bad terms I have absolutely no qualms about giving out some insider knowledge to the competition.” Harry laughed, no wonder Fred and George were being so nice.
“Well tomorrow’s settled then.” Meissa exclaimed, “I’m really tired so I’m going to head off, I’ll see you at the airport tomorrow. Bye” She gave Bill a brief hug winked at the twins before kissing Charlie tenderly on the lips. She ruffled Harry’s already messed up hair in a sisterly like gesture before, going to say goodbye to Ginny, Mr and Mrs Weasley. Ginny gave the older girl a huge bear hug and Mr Weasley gave her an affectionate peck on the cheek. Mrs Weasley however pulled the girl to one side and started talking to her in a low voice. Tears were slipping down Meissa’s face; Mrs Weasley stroked the girls hair before pulling her into a tight embrace. She took Lupin’s hand and the two of them stepped into the fire and were gone.
