About the Artist . . .
I am a struggling artist, struggling at the moment to dedicate myself to one medium or concept and then holding nothing back to explore it.  As it is I am all over the board, I love to paint in oil, acrylic, watercolor, or use any of those in conjucnture with drawing materials or in textile work.  I like to work on art that is quick and in the moment, trusting in my hand and eye for color and line, and letting it all come together.

Yes, I have had some formal education, I have a Bachelor of Fine Ars in Painting from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri and a Master of Fine Arts in Textile Design from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I think formal art training did more harm than good for me. I believe there is too much emphasis on articulating why you do anything, rather than just doing it.  There is no real purpose to art except to effect your senses, if there is a purpose that would move a piece into the realm of propaganda.  I am a very enthusiastic student when learning and exploring new techniques, throwing around ideas and concepts, or problem solving.  My only displeasure is over dissecting a piece, placing too much stress on meaning that isn't explicable.  Great art effects your being, your heart, soul, and even your mind, not how well you translate that into words.  Some things are better when you experience them but lose something in translation to common phrases.

I currently reside and work in St. Peters, Missouri.
