Another Defeat

Added to the Long List Suffered by the Al-
toona Club


Yesterday afternoon the Altoona baseball club
met with an ignominious defeat at the hands
of the National Unions of Washington, D.C.
The local team has received a succession of
drubbings ever since the season opened; and
such announcements now occasion no sur-
prise, but are received as a matter of course.
The team is a weak one, about six good play-
ers being needed to place it on good footing.
Yesterday they floundered about the
field like a lot of old Stoughton
bottles, and when at the bat
hit everything but the ball.  The team needs
reorganizing if it wishes to stay.  The visit-
ing team is not a strong one by any means,
though it has some fine players in its make-
up.  In yesterday's game Al Bradley played
the middle field for the Nationals and re-
minded the crowd of his former exploits by
making a couple very difficult fly catches.
