DALLAS AREA RYU TE KAN
           
                 BASIC TESTING REQUIREMENTS

*    10th Kyu (White Belt)--Basic Blocks, Punches, Stances, Kicks, Dojo Motto

*     9th Kyu (Yellow Belt)--Naihanchi Shodan no Kata,
Dojo Motto, Exercise 2 (90/180 combination hand and foot pattern using cat stance and seisan stance). Basic Tuite against a push.

*     8th Kyu (Gold Belt)--Naihanchi Nidan no Kata, Exercise 3 (Zig-zag, hand combination). Bo Kihon no Kata (6 foot staff formal pattern). Basic defense against a punch using double blocks.

*     7th Kyu (Orange Belt)--Naihanchi Sandan no Kata,
Exercise 4 (Open hand single, double, face combination),
Intermediate Bo Kihon no Kata.  Basic defense against a rear grab. Kunishi no Sai no kata.

*     6th Kyu (Purple Belt)--Tomari Seisan no Kata, Exercise 5 (Turtle hands combination). Basic defense against a hand grab and/or arm grab.

*    5th Kyu (Blue Belt)--Pinan Shodan, Pinan Nidan no katas. Exercise 6 (Windmill Exercise).  Ni Tanbo no kata. (optional).

*     4th Kyu (Green Belt)--Naihanchi Shodan no Kata (Advanced Timing); Pinan Sandan and Pinan Yondan no katas. Exercise 7 (Knee bridge foot maneuvre). Principles 1through 10.

*     3rd Kyu (Brown Belt 3rd Class)--Naihanchi Nidan (Advanced Timing), Pinan Godan and Tomari Passai no Katas. Jo Kihon no Kata (4 ft. staff). Exercise 8 (Intermediate Rear Grab defense).

*     2nd Kyu (Brown Belt 2nd class)--Naihanchi Sandan (Advanced Timing), Kusanku no Kata, Niseshi no Kata,
Intermediate Jo Kata. Exercise 9 (Tanbo Sanbon  Kumite).

*    1st Kyu (Brown Belt 1st Class)--Tomari Seisan no kata (Advanced Timing), Naihanchi Shodan black belt enhancements, Review of all katas and exercises, attendance of previous Birthday Seminar, Amarillo Seminar and Summer Camp for testing for Black Belt 1 (Shodan).
